This book is for anyone who is really looking to change the results of their work relationships, family relationships, and friendships. Are you struggling to find common ground in your relationships? Are you a salesman who is struggling to persuade a potential customer/client to purchase your product/service with enthusiasm? Is your marriage on the brink of divorce simply because you and your spouse can't seem to find that WIN/WIN factor that will keep you together?
This is book is for anyone who can relate to those scenarios and for so many more.
What It Will Help You Do?
Are you seeking practical wisdom into what it means to be an effective and successful person? This is book is an aid in which to discover the successful person inside you. Discover the 7 habits of every effective and successful person.
This book will help you to become a better personal leader and manager, it will help you to learn how to be proactive, it will make you a better salesman, it will make you a better negotiator, it can make you a better father and mother. In short, this book can make you a better leader and more influential in whatever area you find yourself in.
This book is divided into four parts: 1) Paradigms and Principles, 2) Private Victory, 3) Public Victory, and 4) Renewal.
In the first section, Steven will give an overview of the 7 Habits and help you to see things with an inside-out point of view. In the second section is where you learn to become proactive by studying principles of personal vision. This is where you learn to begin with the end in mind (principles of personal leadership), and to put first things first (principles of personal management).
In the third section (Public Victory), you will discover Paradigms of Interdependence, the WIN/WIN factor, the power of Seeking First to Understand, Then to Be Understood, and the wonders of Synergizing.
In the final section (Renewal), you learn how to "Sharpen the Saw" (Principles of Balanced Self-Renewal), and close the with an inside-out look point of view once again.
The Best Part
To me, the best part was the discovery of Seeking First to Understand, Then to Be Understood. Before you discard this statement and concept as being common knowledge or common sense I encourage you to get this book and find out for yourself just how powerful this concept really is.
And trust me, what you find out is not what you would have thought.
What Would Make It Even Better?
Usually I do not say this about a book that I buy. But for what it is worth, I really would not add to anything that is mentioned in this book or insist that something more accompany this resource. I think Steven really did this world an incredible service by writing and sharing this book with us.
The only thing that could make this book better is if you, the reader, applied the invaluable content that you find within its pages in your own personal life.
How It Changed My Life
This book has really changed my life in several different ways, but in short, as I stated above, the discovery I found while reading the chapter on, Seeking First to Understand, Then to be Understood, really did a number on me.
And again, it is not what you think, you really have to get the book and read the chapter to fully understand what Steven is trying to present through this concept. This very chapter was the key chapter that really shifted my paradigm about how I have seen things in the past. Now, after reading this chapter, my relationship with my wife has changed for the better, my interaction with my clients have changed for the better, and the results can be seen as almost miraculous.
If you are in the sales industry and find yourself struggling to meet your quotas, then I believe this chapter will be key to your success from here on out.
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (AFF) is a book that was written just for you. Steven really wants to help you succeed and by applying these principles and concepts that he shares in this book, I believe, it is his way of doing just that.
I highly recommend, if you have not already done so, to get your hands on a copy of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (AFF) and let it change your life just as it has changed mine. And I encourage you to really pay close attention to the chapter on Seeking First to Understand, Then to Be Understood, what you discover there I hope you can consider my gift to you.
