Book: The Five Star Church (AFF)
Stan Toler and Alan Nelson really out did themselves with this one. The book you are about to discover is one of the ultimate church growth resources.
You see, Stan (and Alan) were not always successful in ministry. They have experienced many hardships throughout their journey as ministers of the Gospel. However, they discovered something that not many in their vocation have the opportunity to experience, and not many are humble enough to take advantage of.
Book Price: $14.91 (AFF)
Who Is This Book For?
This book is for Pastors and church leaders who are on a mission (a great commission) to bring Christ to every soul that calls their particular mission field home. Stan and Alan had an unction in their spirit that they could be doing more for the Kingdom of God. And believe it or not, they knew they had to step outside the Christian community to find out what was really missing in their churches and ministries.
It doesn’t matter where you come from, or what organization or denomination you are a part of, or what your ethnicity is, any minister of the Gospel can benefit from reading this resource.
Let me be up front with you, your definition of ministry success may be different from mine, but even our differences in opinion and definition are irrelevant to what you need to know in order to be able to hear the Lord say, “Well done thy good and faithful servant”.
I am sure Stan and Alan have been asked thousands of times in seminars and interviews, “How can we grow are church? What are we doing wrong? How can we inspire and motivate our leadership teams to want to step outside their comfort zones (step outside the boat) and start moving out on the waters of unwavering faith?”
I believe that was what lead them to write this book.
What Will This Book Help You Do?
Stan and one of his colleagues walked into a local Fiver Star Hotel one day (which was owned by one of his church members) and was completely stunned and in awe of the atmosphere of the Hotel and of the service that was provided.
Stan and his colleague began to take a bite of some humble pie and became students of this successful Hotel owner. For several weeks Stan and his colleague would come to the Hotel, sit, and listen to what the Hotel owner had to say about growth and service-oriented principles that he applied to his Hotel business that gave him the Five Star rating that he now has, and what can also apply to church and ministry.
You see, this resource is essentially a church growth seminar and several Q&A sessions made into a book format. In other words, what you are actually doing when purchasing this book (for $14.91, mind you) is purchasing a ticket to a church growth seminar well-worth several thousand dollars.
In short, if you are a church pastor or minister of the Gospel of any kind, this book will help you to develop the principles and practices that you need to reach Five Star status within the Kingdom of God.
Should we not be and do our very best when representing and offering Jesus to a hurting and lost world?
I really like how Stan and Alan formatted this book because how it is written is in, some ways, like reading a fiction novel, and then being given Q&A sessions, with action steps to follow.
You will be entertained but also informed and trained to really make a huge impact in your city and mission field for the Kingdom of God.
The Best Part
Most of my readers and followers know that I have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, and have worked for many years as a lay-minister in the Kingdom of God. However, I have spent several years trying to find a way to merge the two, and really make a difference in this world.
Remember: Jesus told his earthly parents, “Did you not know that I would be about my Father’s business?” I don’t know about everyone else, but I have a very interesting perspective about business and ministry, and whenever I observe how a business operates I always tend to relate it to ministry in some form or fashion.
In other words, if a business operates poorly then those practices should never be present or implemented in ministry. Likewise, when observing ministries (churches), and how they operate, if they are operating at a Five Star level then those types of practices and principles should also be implemented in business practices.
I know that there are differences between ministry and business, one is in operation to make money and the other is in operation to present and offer Jesus (eternal salvation and hope). But we should do all things for His glory including how we conduct and operate a business.
Well, to me, the best part of this book is that it accomplishes what I have not been able to do, to take both business and ministry philosophies and merge the two together.
What Would Make It Even Better?
Now, as for negatives…
To be honest, with you, and I don’t do this very often…this is the only book I have ever read of Stand and Alan’s, and I have never really heard either one of them speak, so I can’t say that I have a lot to go by besides what I have read in this book, but if I am going to just go off this book, then there really isn’t anything that I could negatively say about it.
In my personal opinion, as I have already mentioned above, I was entertained, informed, and trained when reading this and highly recommend it for Pastors and church leaders of every sort.
How It Changed My Life
I have read many books about business growth and church growth, but I have never read a book quite like this one. One that has merged the two together so gracefully and creatively.
After reading this book I have really done a lot soul searching in regards to my writing business/ministry (and that is what it is, my writing is not just a business, but I look at it as a ministry) and in the next year (2016) I will be making some major changes and focusing more of my attention on the ministry side of things.
I will be doing whatever I can to reach a Fiver Star rating as a writing business and writing ministry.
If you are a Pastor or church leader of any kind, I highly recommend, if you have not already done so, to get your hands on a copy of The Five Star Church (AFF). Let it open your eyes and ignite a spirit of excellence within you to be the best minister you can be as well as ignite a fire within your church to be the best it can be for God and for those that call your mission field home.
