If you’re a small business owner, here at William Ballard Enterprise, LLC, we know you probably don’t have a lot of time for things like reading, so we’ll try to make this worth your while. We’re guessing that you’re not just the owner of your business, but also the general manager, accountant, marketing department, plumber, janitor, customer service representative and so on. You might even be handling tasks that you’re not exactly even qualified for.
Did we nail it?
We’re also guessing that you’re working crazy hours, nights and weekends, and still can’t find enough time in the day for all of the work you have to do, let alone yourself and your family.
We know this because several of our past and current clients are small business owners, and they all seem to wear too many hats, stretching themselves very thin. As freelance writers, one of our favorite reasons for working with small businesses is our ability to make a big, immediate impact and bring the owners relief by lifting a huge burden from their shoulders. With our help, they’re finally able to focus on the more important aspects of running their business, and the things they’re most passionate about.
If you think you might be in need of a knight in shining writer, here are four reasons for hiring a freelance writer, which will ease your stress and ultimately help your small business grow.
1) It'll Save TIME
When we first talk to a potential small business client, we always hear the same thing: “I know it needs to be done, but I just don’t have the time.” As the business owner, you should be focusing on more important, high-level items, like meeting with customers and clients and nurturing those relationships. Today’s Facebook post? Not so much. Delegate writing tasks to a freelancer and free up your calendar for what matters most.
2) It'll Save MONEY
Most small business owners don’t have the budget for a marketing staff, let alone one full-time content writer. Hiring a freelance writer is a much more savvy option, because you don’t have to pay contractors a lofty salary or employment benefits. Instead, you’ll simply pay a freelance writer an agreed-upon hourly rate or project fee, and only when you have work for them to do, which might only be a couple of hours a week. The money you do spend on them will be a sound investment in content that will live on forever and help you generate more attention to your business and it's message, connect and build relationships, not to mention and increase in sells and revenue.
3) Your Small Business NEEDS an Expert Content Writer
Are you artistic writer? Did you have a degree in writing or communications? Do you write for a living? Have you had your writing published in newspapers and magazines, or on the websites and materials of other brands and businesses?
You probably answered no to most of those questions, but a great freelance writer would answer yes to all of them.
Let me ask you another question: Did you hire a professional to design your website?
If yes, then why wouldn’t you do the same for that website’s content, which is actually more important? The design itself isn’t going to sell anything.
Even if you consider yourself a creative and artistic, capable writer, we bet you wouldn’t call yourself a professional. Instead of spending hours reworking small sections of copy, that could end up lacking excitement and riddled with spelling and grammar mistakes, hire a freelance writer. You’ll find that they can produce quality, engaging copy both quickly and efficiently.
4) Running a Business Involves a LOT of Writing
You likely don’t even realize it, but writing is a part of almost everything you do for your business, especially when it comes to marketing it. Here’s a list of some of the most common content that a freelance writer could help you with:
If you don’t have the time to write all of that, or don’t even know where to begin, a freelance writer can quickly move through the list and take it off your plate.
For a small investment, hiring a freelance writer will save you time, lift a significant number of items off your to do list and lead to productive results that will pay back your investment, and then some.
